Spooky Season: 'The Others' Is What a Good Ghost Story Looks Like

I remember the twist in 2001’s The Others, but I didn’t quite remember how we got to it since seeing it 24 years ago. Last year, it was added to The Criterion Collection, and that’s what got my gears turning, making me think it was a film I wanted to revisit. And, I’m so so glad we did. It’s going to be in my Spooky Season rotation going forward. Not only is it just a flat out well-executed and well-made old fashioned ghost story, but I actually think it’s some of Nicole Kidman’s best work. That’s saying something.
