In case you guys haven’t noticed, Brandon and I tend to talk like old men sitting down at Hardee’s for breakfast at 6AM to start just about every podcast we do. Call us traditional in that regard, but that traditionalism carries over to which movies we talk about month to month - we like our seasons! And, in the summertime, we like to pick movies that have summertime vibes. This month may be the best example of that. 2020’s Palm Springs is loaded with vibrant colors, humorous bits, and plenty of “lounging by the pool” energy.
I always found it to be a little underrated in the sense that I don’t recall it being talked about all that much back when it came out. Doing show prep for this episode, I realized it was a pretty well-received critical effort. Maybe my sense was off, or maybe it was because more pressing matters took over the national conversation in 2020. Yes, the “p” word…wait…phrasing….I meant “pandemic.”
This podcast also gave Brandon and me the opportunity to look back on the covid lockdown, how movies were released, and what a weird time to be alive it was five years ago. June gives us a double whammy of Movie Review Rewind podcasts, and this one was a ton of fun to relive.
