(PAID) Podcast: Reliving 2003's 'Master and Commander'

Looking back at the year that was 2003 in film, it reminds me of what a loaded field it was. You can look back at the list of nominees for the 76th Academy Awards and see it was one of those years that made sorting out the best of the best difficult. Of course, if you’re looking at winners only, you’d think The Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King was the only film worth watching that year. But, as is often the case in years like 2003, if you look beyond the surface, you’ll find a deep well of quality films. That year, you had heavyweights in Mystic River, Lost in Translation, Cold Mountain, and Monster. The first Pirates of the Caribbean movie was released that year. You had Tom Cruise in The Last Samurai, Pixar’s legendary Finding Nemo, and the historical Seabiscuit. And, that’s only naming a handful from the Oscars field!
